Former Pakistani PM guilty of money laundering

Well, overseas again now. And she was once one of the most powerful and respected women in the world. Now Pakistan's former Prime Minister, and the only female ever to lead the country, Benazir Bhutto, has been found guilty in a Swiss court of money laundering, along with her husband, Asif Zardari.

A judge in Switzerland has sentenced the pair to a six-month suspended jail term, and ordered them to pay US$12 million to the Pakistani Government, finding that they had illegally been siphoning millions from Pakistan into their own personal accounts, in Switzerland. But as Edmond Roy reports, the former first couple of Pakistan deny misappropriating the money, and are considering an appeal.

EDMOND ROY: Even before this verdict, things weren't looking too good for Benazir Bhutto. Her husband, Asif Zardari, has been in jail now for more than eight years, she's been in exile from her homeland and has been sentenced in absentia to three years hard labour by a Pakistani court. More... Sounds like a perfect US puppet to replace Musharref with.
